Tessa Clarke MBA, NPS Dip
Stud Consultant
Brought up on farm in Devon – after a brief eventing career, went to work for Jennie Loriston-Clarke at the Catherson Stud in the New Forest in 1980. With Jennie became involved with Twink Allen and Martin Boyle and set up Catherston as one of the first studs in UK to implement the use of fresh/chilled semen for AI in sports horses and native breeds. Set up a protocol for the use of AI within the UK – both for vets and stallion and mare owners.
In 1995 employed by Tim and Jane Holderness-Roddam to help set up West Kington Stud in North Wiltshire. In conjunction with Martin Boyle became a stud of excellence for AI and particularly in the development of equine frozen semen for both UK and overseas markets.
Particular focus has always been the promotion of our wonderful British pony and horse breeds. Developed various markets in Australia, New Zealand, USA and Kenya.
Have enjoyed travelling overseas and lecturing on AI in over 18 countries.
Recently retired home to South Devon – but acting as consultant to West Kington and various other breeding enterprises both in UK and abroad.
Very privileged to have received the Stallion AI Meritioire at 2020 Breeders Dinner and British Breeding “Unsung Hero” award late 2019.
