SIMON COOPER

Trustee

Simon has worked in the UK, Hong Kong and New Zealand in administration, corporate governance and communication roles at a senior level, predominantly within Thoroughbred horseracing-related businesses. He has worked for Weatherbys since 2016 in the role of Director, The General Stud Book. He is also Company Secretary. His international roles include Vice-Chairman, International Stud Book Committee (ISBC); Member of the Executive Council, International Federation of Horseracing Authorities (IFHA); and Chairman, European and African Stud Book Committee. He also sits on the tripartite EU Task Force for Brexit and the Animal Health Law established this year by the FEI and IFHA.


Simon’s roles with The General Stud Book, the IFHA, the ISBC and other relevant bodies involves him in international research initiatives on genetic diversity and genetic manipulation and new technology including transition to Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNPs) and development of the Weatherbys E-Passport incorporating ID, ownership, vaccinations and medical records, and movement.
