Welcome to The British Horse Foundation. A registered UK charity whose mission is to advance equine breeding and welfare through research and education.
WHAT WE DO
The British Horse Foundation was established as a charity in 1991 under the Chairmanship of triple Olympic gold medal winner Richard Meade OBE. Our vision is to promote collaborative education and research with the aim of advancing the breeding of horses and ponies that are fit for purpose by helping breeders make good breeding decisions.
We are a conduit for collaboration between like-minded charities and organisations facilitating research and education to help breeders make informed decisions which will result in the breeding of quality, fit for purpose, youngstock.
We faciliate and fund research, alongside other charities and groups, to advance equine welfare.
BREEDING
Advocating the breeding of quality youngstock
The BHF support the breeding of horses and ponies which are fit for purpose. To achieve this, we collaborate with those who help us conduct research and provide education to a wide variety of breeders. From the one-off homebred to large-scale stud operations, we work to understand the factors that affect peoples' decision to breed so that we can target our research and education to ensure the UK continues to produce top quality youngstock.
